Maybelline Clear Smooth 8-in-1 Skin Transformer BB Cream Review

proscons

The Maybelline Clear Smooth was the first ever BB cream I bought, and I wasn't disappointed! It provides sun protection (one of the things I look for in face products) of SPF 26. That's good enough, but I'm still not that satisfied with the SPF (Maybelline recently launched a BB cream variant that offers SPF 50 though). It effectively brightens my skin and hides minor blemishes, and also evens out my skin tone. I love how it provides a moist and dewy look, yet remains natural, as if you didn't apply anything on your face!

More details after the break.

It is available in the Philippines in two shades -- Fresh (the one I have) and Natural. This product claims to be an 8-in-1 skin transformer which brightens, evens, smoothes, refines, clears, conceals, moisturizes, and protects skin. I can definitely say that it does all 8, but only to a certain extent. It only provides minimal coverage for your normal day-to-day look.

It has a thin, fluid consistency which makes the product easily spreadable on the skin. Because of this, a little amount goes a LOOONG way. I bought this item when the BB cream craze first broke out, which was about two years ago and I still use the same tube up to this day! As much as I want to move on to my other BB creams, I really can't, because this tube never seems to run out! I now look for excuses to go out just so I can use this product lol.

After applying this on the skin, the face tends to look oily (but still manageable, in my case). To lessen the oiliness, you can apply powder afterwards. However, I don't recommend this to those who have oily skin because this will aggravate the oiliness. But not to worry, Maybelline has a BB stick variant designed for oily skin. Check your local drug stores or boutiques if they carry them.

This product also produces gray undertones when applied, which results in skin that looks dull and lifeless for certain skin tones. I suggest you go to a Maybelline beauty counter to try the product first before actually buying a full-sized tube.

This product is very affordable, costing around P200+. I can say it performs well for the price.

  2. I actually like this product - not the one I usually use but it's something I use when I ran out of foundation or BB creams - doesn't really last long for me - but it even outs my complexion very well so it's worth the price you pay for. :)

  3. I've been wanting to try BB creams for the longest time but can't decide which one to get. However, I have oily skin so this might not be the one for me. :( But thanks, you gave me an idea. Will just ask for that BB stick variant for oily skin. :)

    1. Hi Rochkirstin! This variant is not very good for oily skin because this makes your skin look even oilier. I suggest you try their BB stick variant since it's specially made for oily skin. :)
