Perfect Pads Media Launch

_DSC9504_2

For my female readers, I think you'll agree with me that our monthly period can be such a pain (pun intended) -- that uncomfortable feeling all day, abdominal cramps, mood swings, food cravings, and the list goes on. With all these, it requires so much more effort to go about our regular everyday routine. Staying home all day is definitely not an option (except when you're lucky the worst came on a weekend). To help us get through our red days, Pefect Pads claims to offer comfort and protection for us to be worry-free during these distressing times.

The event was held at Wack Wack Country Club at three in the afternoon. Gracing the launch was Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Perfect Pads' newest celebrity endorser. Bloggers and members of the press were allowed to ask Jasmine questions, which she answered confidently. The event ended with the guests posing for photos (and selfies!) with Jasmine.

Ramen Nagi

IMG_5896

I'm sure everybody knows that ramen is a really big thing right now. With the sudden boom of ramen houses, it gets harder and harder to decide which offers the best ramen in Manila. Ramen Nagi, since it opened in SM Aura, has been very popular in social media, especially in Instagram, in which the most commonly posted picture is that of a sheet of paper on how you'd like to customize your ramen.

The first time I planned to have dinner here, I was 30th-something in line and was forced to choose another restaurant for practicality purposes. They don't allow phone reservations so if you're planning to eat here, make sure to arrive early, especially when you're dining on a Friday night or a weekend. The dining area is bit small compared to other establishments so they can't accommodate a lot of people at a time. Expect also that the place is a bit cramped and noisy due to the number of people inside.

There are five choices for the ramen: butao king (original), black king (shown in photo above), red king (haven't tried this), green king (tastes amazingly like pesto), and limited king (curry-based, spicy!).

Pond's Flawless White BB Cream Review

pond's bb

After my Maybelline BB cream ran out (finally!), I had the chance to try the Pond's Flawless White BB cream (Light). It's similar in almost every aspect to the Maybelline BB cream, differing only in consistency and shade. Pond's gives off a light pink undertone, giving you a youthful glow, in contrast to Maybelline's grayish undertone. Coverage-wise, they're almost the same, giving minimal coverage ideal for everyday use. The Pond's BB has a thicker consistency and thus, more product is used when applying. This is also suitable for all skin types.

I don't know about its claim, 'lightens from within' but what I do know is that it brightens my face whenever I use it! This product has an SPF of 30 so you can skip the sunblock if you're not planning on staying under the sun for too long. It is also very affordable, which is great for those who are on a budget!

To be honest, the only negative thing I can think of is that this product is too bulky, and will hardly fit in your purse. I suggest you bring a more portable BB cream when traveling. But if you can afford the extra space, why not?

Will I repurchase? Definitely!

Très Chic

IMG_5884

It was mid-March when I suddenly got a text message inviting me to be the model of Max Factor for their segment on this year's BDJ Beauty Social. Basically, the BDJ Beauty Social is a one-day event where you can listen to talks given by some big personalities in the beauty industry. You can also spend time going around the booths trying out the latest beauty products. This year's event was entitled Très Chic and was held at Samsung Hall, SM Aura. A lot of brands participated this year like Moschino, Shiseido, Covergirl, Benefit, Canmake, and Too Cool for School, to name a few.

I was among the first ones to try Max Factor's Whipped Creme foundation, which, I must say, felt very light on the skin. The makeup I'm wearing here, which deeply emphasizes the eyes, is the summer look created by Bobby Carlos for Max Factor. The makeup was really nice but I guess I'm still more comfortable wearing neutrals.

Thanks to the Max Factor team for having me and to the BDJ team for always making me feel welcome! :)

Walk this Way: A Walking Tour of Intramuros

IMG_5475

I've been hearing so many great things about the walking tour of Carlos Celdran in Intramuros. Everyone I know who tried it only had good things to say. Indeed, I wasn't disappointed. Carlos Celdran was such a natural. Everything he says just comes easily, leaving us hanging on to every word.

I was enjoying too much that I wasn't able to take lots of photos. The tour was divided into different periods: the pre-Hispanic period, the Spanish colonization, the American occupation, the Japanese invasion, and the present. The tour started at Fort Santiago, then proceeded to San Agustin Church, and ended at Plaza San Luis where we were served a glass of ice-cold halo-halo.

(For those who visited my blog just to learn more about the Intramuros tour, please bear with my outfit shots. Instead of doing separate posts, I decided to combine them into a lengthier one.)

In walking tours like this, make sure you're wearing the right clothing. Light, breezy tops are highly advisable if you're expecting to be under the scorching heat of the sun for a long time. Thankfully, it wasn't that hot on the day of the tour (yay!).

It was an afternoon well-spent. Thanks Carlos Celdran!

Shades of Blue

IMG_5939

I didn't realize that I was wearing different shades of blue until I saw my outfit shots lol. In my previous post, I tried to incorporate sporty pieces to create a high fashion look. This time, I decided to go for sporty casual, the type of outfit that you can wear to amusement parks, picnics, parks or simply outdoors. I believe that you can still look cute and chic while wearing sneakers, and that they're not only for running or going to the gym. Do you agree? :)

L'Entrecote

IMG_5395

Ryan and I rarely get to have a nice, fancy dinner because we've been so busy the past few weeks. Most of the time, we just grab a quick dinner (Subway is our fave!) then head home. When both us didn't have plans one weekday night, we decided to eat at a place we haven't tried before. We chose to have dinner at the French restaurant, L'Entrecote at Burgos Circle. That place always catches our attention whenever we pass by it. It's always packed with people, which only means that the food is pretty good.

We ordered their signature dish, the L'Entrecote Menu, which includes mixed greens tossed in their house dressing with walnuts, US Choice Sirloin steak topped with herb butter sauce, and unlimited fries. On top of that, if you want a glass of house wine and some valrhona cake for dessert, you can order their Geneva menu.

I always want my steak medium well and the steak here was cooked just the way I wanted. The taste was pretty okay but not impressive. The fries though were amazing. They didn't look as if they were pre-made, like the ones you see in fast-food chains. I think they prepare them fresh in their kitchens -- they slice the potatoes and fry them upon order. I suggest you ask for some mayo (they serve a different kind of mayo, not like the regular ones you see in the grocery) to go with the fries, the combination's much better as compared to ketchup. Or maybe that's just me.
