Badass

IMG_5032

I never thought that I will be wearing this midriff top so many times! If you have a top like this, you can check my previous posts (Teenage Dream and Black Out) for some more outfit ideas.

But anyway, for this look, I decided to go for sporty glam. I liked the idea of adding sportswear pieces to an otherwise polished look. I wanted the pants to be the highlight of my outfit, so I kept my top plain, wore my black go-to heels and didn't bother to accessorize. I was pretty happy with the result!

Overexposed

IMG_5123

Whenever I'm not attending events, I'm usually dressed in simple, comfortable clothes like this (sans the heels, of course). After all, I prefer comfort over style. Most of the time, I choose to wear a shirt-and-jeans or a top-and-skirt combo, coupled with messy hair and no makeup. I skip makeup as much as possible, although I did apply a little BB cream and eyeliner on the day these photos were taken. In my opinion, how you look and what you wear don't matter as much, so long as you're confident in your own skin! Don't make a big fuss on what other people think, it's what you think about yourself that matters. :)

Tmart 88 Warm Professional Eyeshadow Palette Review

IMG_5209
Tmart.com recently asked me to choose which eyeshadow palette I wanted to review, and knowing me, I chose the most neutral eyeshadow palette I could find. Yes, there were lots of bright, fun and colorful eyeshadow palettes to choose from. I won't deny it, they look extra nice and it was as if they were calling out my name and shouting 'pick me, pick me!'. But later on, I realized that if I choose those colorful ones, I won't be using them that much in the end. And so, I picked this one! :)

G-Shock's Shock the World Tour in Manila

DSC_0187

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, G-Shock launched a series of events called Shock the World, which was held in various cities all over the world including New York, Paris, London and of course, here in Manila.

The event was held at Hyve and was graced by the man behind G-Shock himself, Kikuo Ibe. He told the story of how he came up with a shockproof watch, with matching animations as he spoke. Mr. Ibe was actually quite entertaining and funny. During his introduction, he even spoke in full Filipino: not just one or two sentences, mind you. New additions to their existing timepiece collection were presented afterwards and there was even a video showing a G-Shock watch being run over by a 10-wheeler truck (or was it 12?).

Thanks G-Shock for the limited edition STW MNL watch! I've worn it so many times already!

The Glamourtini x Zomato Giveaway (CLOSED)

IMG_9104

I LOVE FOOD. I think I'm even more of a foodie than a fashion enthusiast, and my instagram account (@heyitsalyssayu) can attest to that. If only I was good with words, I could've labeled myself a food blogger as well. Although I do blog about food from time to time (you can never hide from you true passion lol).

So anyway, Zomato asked me if I wanted to host a giveaway for you guys. Zomato is an easy and convenient way to discover new places to eat. They have a complete restaurant directory and provides other valuable information to help you choose where to eat, such as the restaurant's menu, opening hours, average cost per person, location map, and even if the establishment offers free wifi! You can also share your experiences to fellow foodies by writing reviews and posting them online! Now, how cool is that? I recently created an account on Zomato which you can see if you scroll down on my left sidebar.

In line with this, Zomato is kind enough to grant one lucky reader over P2000 worth of GCs from various food establishments! To join, click the link below (if you're viewing this from my home page) and wait for the Rafflecopter widget to appear. Good luck!

From Music to Denim: Lee Cooper

IMG_0916

Lee Cooper, one of the major participating brands in the Great British Festival, opened the fashion show with some exciting pieces from their newest collection. The collection featured preppy saturated hues fused with a grunge marine feel. As models walked down the runway, you couldn't help but notice the playful use of colors in their clothing, as well as some British touches here and there. The pieces are very versatile and can be styled in various ways to match everyone's style. It can go from sleek and sexy, to casual and sporty! I'm actually eyeing the orange pants worn by the model on the far right!

The Great British Festival, organized by the British Embassy, was a 3-day event held in Bonifacio High Street. There were various booths, exhibits, and activities in store for everyone, from movie screenings to football drills to live music! There was really something for everyone! The festival was designed to increase the Filipinos' awareness about UK culture, and to strengthen ties between the two countries.

Anniversary at Champagne Room

IMG_4108

Last month, Ryan and I celebrated our anniversary at none other than Manila Hotel's Champagne Room. I loved the theme and the ambiance: very Victorian-ish. I felt every bit the princess while being served by the restaurant staff. The portions were really big which was why we spent the whole evening trying to finish our food. But don't get me wrong, the food was amazing! Beyond amazing, even. They served the best Chilean Sea Bass (Bar de Mer Chilien) in the world! And they even gave us complimentary chocolates for dessert! Other dishes we ordered were French Onion Soup, steak, and pasta (I can't remember which one lol, but it has salmon in it so that narrows it down). I really enjoyed everything about this place, from the grand and lavish furniture to the excellently prepared food! Two thumbs up for this place! We had such a great time and it was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! :)

Chambray

IMG_4458 copy

I've been looking for a denim or chambray button-down since forever…but now I'm happy to announce that the search has ended!

There are so many denim or chambray tops to choose from in stores but it seemed like I couldn't find the perfect one for me. I almost gave up my search when one afternoon, I saw this chambray top on the shelves of Uniqlo *rejoice*! I admit, it wasn't the best, but it was good enough for me. I hurried over to it but found that they did not have my size. Sad.

The next day, in a different mall, I came upon another Uniqlo store (it was totally unplanned!). I immediately looked for the chambray top from the day before. I was expecting not to find any in my size, but there it was, in size small! I actually asked if they had a size XS to see if that one fits me better but I was told that the smallest size they carry is a small. Although even without trying on the smaller size, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase!
