Birthday Girl

IMG_1011

It came as a big surprise when my parents asked me if I wanted to spend my birthday in Singapore. Well, why not? We spent three days there, mostly just eating and shopping. Lol. If I remember correctly, this was my fourth visit to Singapore. I didn't actually expect that I'd still be amazed at how beautiful the place is. And everything's just so efficient and organized! I mean, in my entire stay, I didn't see any traffic in the streets. In fact, it's very fast and easy to travel from one place to another. And plants are everywhere, even in the busiest of streets!

I had a simple dinner with my parents on my birthday at Pizzeria Mozza in Marina Bay Sands (review coming soon!). Thinking that the weather in Singapore would be the same in Manila (back when it wasn't raining that much yet), I packed only thin and lightweight pieces. Wrong move! It was chillier there, and it rained everyday during our stay. It was lucky that the rain only lasted a few hours each time, so we were still able to go around the city.

Bag O' Shrimps

IMG_6492

Aside from fashion, another thing I like blogging about is food! I love trying out different restaurants, sampling their dishes, and posting my dining experiences online. Zomato, as if reading my mind, contacted me several months ago for a collaboration. I created a Zomato account and started writing restaurant reviews. In fact, I post there more often than I do here because I can't afford to bring my DSLR with me all the time. Based on experience, reading a blog post without any pictures is just plain boring, so I decided not to post those reviews here if I didn't have pictures to go with them.

The photo above shows the interiors of a quaint restaurant in Tuscany, McKinley Hill--just a few good meters from Venice Piazza--called Bag O' Shrimps. From its name, you can totally tell that their specialty is seafood, but with a twist! The seafoods are served in a bag and guests are encouraged to eat with their hands. Doesn't that sound exciting?

Read about my experience after the break.

Copper

IMG_8202

There's something about jumpsuits that catches my attention while shopping. For one, it looks super glam on its own, no need to mix and match: just add some accessories and finish off with a fab pair of heels. Definitely one of my top picks when I'm in a hurry to get ready! However, it was only recently that I realized I already had a floral jumpsuit in my closet (see this post) which I rarely got to wear. Oh well, one can never have too many lol.

P.S. Notice that my hair turns copper in yellow light? Under natural light, my hair looks like the one in the photo below. Which color do you prefer? :)

Lady on My Shirt

IMG_8116

I'm a huge sucker for no-brainer outfits. Believe it or not, I'm very comfortable just wearing a simple top plus shorts or jeans.

Everyone can definitely pull off this look! If you feel that your top is too bulky that it hides your curves, show more skin by wearing shorts or a skirt, instead of pants. To add more oomph to your outfit, why not toss in a pair of heels? Wearing heels in the same color as your skin as well as those without ankle straps gives the illusion of longer, leaner legs.

Comeback

Hi everyone! Missed me? I'm happy to announce that I'm back to blogging after a three-week long hiatus! I was extra extra busy the past few weeks that blogging was impossible for me. So what was I up to these past three weeks?

On the first week of July, I flew to Singapore and celebrated my birthday there. It was nothing big - just a simple dinner with my parents at Marina Bay Sands (which I'll be posting about soon!). Upon arriving in Manila, I had to pack my things again for a week-long visit to Legazpi, Albay. It's the city where I grew up in and finished high school.

Midway through my vacation, a typhoon suddenly made an appearance and all hell broke loose. Trees were uprooted, electric posts fell and blocked roads, and thousands of houses were damaged. It was a sad day for everyone. It was a good thing that we were all warned in advance, that definitely helped us prepare for the calamity.

Here's an ootd to signify my comeback in the fashion blogging world. Hope you like it! More photos after the break.

Dorothy Perkins x Burton Launch at SM Fashion Hall

Dorothy Perkins celebrated its 10th anniversary in the Philippines by opening a store in the newly constructed SM Fashion Hall. It was actually a joint celebration, with Burton Menswear opening its first store in the Philippines. Both were brought in by RSSI (Robinsons Specialty Stores Inc.), the same group that brought Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Warehouse, and River Island to the country.

We were treated to a British themed tea party and a fashion show that featured pieces from the latest Spring-Summer 2014 collection. The event was hosted by TV host and DJ Aaron Atayde. Oh, and wait, I won GCs for answering a question correctly in their Twitter contest, yay!

In choosing my outfit for the day, I made sure that I would be comfortable (no heels!). Since the event was held in a huge mall, I anticipated that there would be a lot of walking, and I was right! We had to walk from the third floor, where the stores were located, to the ground floor for the fashion show, then back again. When the event was over, we did some shopping, and I met up with a couple of friends for a movie date. :)
