Black Out

IMG_1386

People often ask me where I work and what I do. Since I'm a pharmacy major, most assume that I'm working at a pharmaceutical company, but even before graduation I had already been thinking that pharmacy was not for me. I finally decided to go out of my comfort zone and venture into a field I knew nothing about. So when an opportunity presented itself, I took it without any hesitation. I entered the mysterious and unknown world (to me, anyway) of the power industry. Currently, I am one of two commercial trainees in our company and we're being rotated within the different groups under the commercial team. It has been a wonderful three months in my job, and I'm really loving every minute of it!

Crop Top Diaries: Off-Shoulder

IMG_9692

Hey! I just want to greet everyone a Merry Christmas! Wishing you and your family all the happiness, love, and joy this holiday season!

Because it's Christmas, I'm sharing with you one of my fave ootds! This top is definitely high up on my list! It's really easy to style and it looks super chic with whatever I pair it with! This time, I decided to use it with the obvious choice -- high waisted shorts!

P.S. I just love how these photos turned out! I was wearing very little makeup and I didn't get the right amount of sleep the night before, but everything turned out wonderfully!

B&W Series: Black Maxi Skirt

IMG_1191

Hi guys! Here's another ootd post where I'm wearing black and white. Quite a classy combination, don't you think?

Here's a useful tip: if you can't think of anything to wear, try to mix and match your blacks and whites. I'm sure you'll come up with a polished and put-together look without exerting too much effort!

Pocketful of Sunshine

IMG_1122

This was what I wore to the launch of the Roland Mouret for Banana Republic collection a few weeks back. This outfit screams so much positivity, don't you think? Exactly what I need right now because I'm down with the flu and I'm just not capable of doing anything (aside from sleeping lol). I guess I have to postpone attending my yoga class (sigh), and skip work today. Hope you're all doing better than I am!

Fringe All Over

IMG_6538

Here's an outfit that I wore before taking a morning swim at the resort. It was around half past six in the morning and nobody was in the pool except for me. Apparently, not a lot of members in our family are morning persons. The other night, most of them stayed up late to catch up with each other while swimming in the pool. Being the sleepyhead that I am, I went straight to bed after dinner (and yeah, missed all the fun).

You probably noticed that ugly bruise on my knee. It was raining hard one day and I couldn't afford to get my shoes wet because they weren't designed for rainy days. While I was walking on my tiptoes, I lost my balance and slipped. No surprises there, considering how big of a klutz I am. I landed on the concrete floor, and my knees got most of the impact. The bruise looked more horrible and so much bigger a week before. I'm still thankful though, it could have been much worse.

P.S. School's starting in a week! Who's excited? :)

Little Black Dress

This is one of my outfits for our yearbook shots. We were required to wear something black for our batch picture and since I didn't have time to plan what to wear (again!), I went for this classic black dress. I bought this roughly three years ago from Topshop and it never goes out of style! And I love it even more because it's lace!

I'm in Cebu right now to attend a wedding and I'm flying back to Manila on January 2, just in time for our first day of class on 2013. I'll be spending New Year's Eve here, my first time to spend NYE away from home (but still with family). So excited to see what's in store for me in the coming days!

Season of Opulence Fashion Show

Shangri-La Plaza proved itself once more as one of the metro’s preferred style sources as it unveiled the hottest picks of the season with Season of Opulence, its 2012 Holiday Fashion Show.

Held at the lifestyle destination’s Grand Atrium, the highly anticipated fashion event offered Manila’s most discerning style setters a coveted preview of what to expect this holiday season from select top clothing brands; while also parading the impressive diversity of Shang’s merchandise mix.

Popular high street labels Marks & Spencer, Zara, Debenhams, Topshop, Mango, and Warehouse wowed audiences with noteworthy runway revelations that showcased key trends for the celebrated fashion season.

Premium brands Gap, K & Co, Mico Boutique, Celine, Celio, Daniel Hechter, Onitsuka Tiger, Massimo Dutti, Bauhaus, Nautica, Ben Sherman, Original Penguin, and Anthem likewise reigned on the catwalk, presenting their own distinct interpretations of how to stand out in style during the holidays.

Of course, also not to miss were laudable anthologies from Rustan’s Department Store and Crossings Department Store, turning some of the season’s most wanted looks into wearable creations fit for stylish urbanites to don during the much awaited iconic series of gatherings and special affairs the most wonderful time of year often brings.

Thanks Bianca for inviting me! Enjoy the holidays everyone!! :)

Girly Girl

I don't usually like seeing the color pink on my wardrobe except for this particular shade. I find them too loud and girly for my taste. Probably the same reason why I'm not that into colorful pieces. Yes, I do buy some occasionally when I'm in the mood but I don't see myself wearing those in an everyday basis. In the end, I stick to where I'm comfortable at- neutrals. I believe these colors are must-haves in a girl's wardrobe because they're so easy to mix and match and they don't usually get outdated. Do you guys agree? :)

P.S. My face looks so shiny in these photos cause I forgot to put powder after applying sunblock. Teehee! :)

P.P.S. Have you joined my giveaway yet?

Wild Wild West

I hate to say this but school is getting busier by the day! It's becoming hard for me to find time to write a post but I promise to keep you updated! If you want, you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram (@heyitsalyssayu) or you can also like my page on Facebook. :)

Now, about this look, I just threw in some pieces which are of the same shades. You can try this to make your look more put together. Actually, in terms of matching clothes, I find this technique the easiest. I mean, just take a look at your closet, grab clothes belonging to the same color palette, try them on and see if it looks good. Sounds easy, right? I kept the accessories minimal so as not to make my outfit look like a mess, with the distracting print of my top, the busy pattern of my vest and of course, the fringe! And lastly, add a statement piece, be it shoes, accessories, bag or whatever you want. In my case, I wore a pair of orange sunnies. Just make sure it complements your outfit and not compete with it. :)

3rd day of the Year!

These photos were just taken last month but it seems that they were from ages ago. This is probably due to the huge amount of school work I've been drowning myself recently. The good part? No more exams til next week. (Yay!)

I think this was the second time Ryan and I were able to go out after he came back from France. We ate at PB Co. Can't wait to eat there again, I'm actually craving their peanut butter sandwiches while I'm writing this post! Haha.
