About Me

Hi there! You probably don't know much about me, so let me introduce myself. My name's Alyssa Yu. I'm in my late twenties but I still feel like a kid inside. I'm obsessed with planning (I can't live without my daily planner!) and with documenting my life (this is so weird, I know). I'm an introvert, who also enjoys going out and socializing once in a while.

I love the beach— the warm ocean breeze, the feeling of sand on my feet, and the gentle sound of the waves. Just thinking of it makes me wish I was there! I absolutely adore theme parks too, and I enjoy nature. I like hiking up the mountains and going on extreme adventures (hello skydiving!).

I used to blog about fashion and beauty, got invited to lots of cool events and received tons of freebies. But when I moved back to my hometown in Legazpi, I realized that I wasn't at ease with that kind of lifestyle after all. I removed the link of my blog from all my online accounts and stopped promoting my blog on social media. I wanted my blog to be more personal, more 'me'without wondering what other people would think.

So if you're reading this, I don't how you got here. Lol. Kidding aside, I use this blog to keep a record of my travels, my passions, my thoughts, and for me to see how I change through the years (for the better, I hope lol).

I'm still in the phase where I don't know what I'm meant to do in life. When I was in high school, I had my life planned outget an undergraduate degree, go to medical school, take my residency, and then take further studies on my chosen specialty I wanted to be a neurosurgeon. But after getting my degree in Pharmacy at UP, I made a life changing decision, I chose to do business.

I attended the Basic Management Program at the Asian Institute of Managements to learn the basics about business, after which, my boyfriend Ryan and I started a ready-to-bake jar cake business. It was where I learned the value of grit and hard work. We did everything by ourselves-- sourcing of raw materials, production, marketing, branding, design, activations, logistics, and finance. We hired two staff, and trained them— this was the first time I ever had to manage people, and trust me, it was no easy feat. After operating for three years, we finally decided to close the business. The effort we were putting in were not enough for the profits we were generating. Ryan and I agreed that it would be more fruitful if we put our efforts into our respective family businesses. I learned so many things from our jar cake business, and it still makes me sad thinking that we stopped it.

I was working a corporate job at the same time as our jar cake business, which made it extra challenging for me. I used to be a Sales and Marketing Associate at AES Philippines, a power generation company based in BGC. I had the most wonderful memories here, the people at work were like family to me. I also got to travel a lot for work, which I absolutely enjoyed.

Year 2017 was when I moved back to Legazpi to help out in my family business. Our main business is the distribution of FMCG products in Bicol region, with some of our suppliers multinational corporations. I've been here for three years but every day is a learning experience. I'm very thankful for the opportunities that I've been given and I'm in constant search on ways to give back.

I want to do so many things but one of my short-term goals that I want to prioritize is being financially independent. In fact I'm cooking up something exciting for second quarter this yeara new business venture! Hoping that it would be successful! It has also been a dream of mine to share my knowledge by teaching a class in a universityfingers crossed!
