Making a Statement

These photos were taken a few months ago using my new lens. Do you like the photos better than my previous ones? I was a bit hesitant to post these at first because I'm not used to seeing myself in this getup. But my adventurous side took over and I decided to post them. It's always refreshing to see something different and out of the ordinary.

What do you think about my look? :)

It's A Long Long Way

These set of photos were taken at the Ayala Terraces in Cebu. If not for the huge pile of schoolwork, I would've gone back there for Sinulog. On to my outfit, I already wore this dress a few times. You might have had caught a glimpse of it in one of my posts about the Snoe Bloggers Event last October (here). When I first saw this dress at the racks, I noticed that the print resembled something from one of Mango's collections. I'm not sure though, I won't be surprised if I had just imagined it. It happens quite a lot,  haha.

What to Wear When Shopping

IMG_8425

Have you ever experienced being annoyed by what you're wearing while you're out shopping? You would tell yourself to wear something simpler and fuss-free the next time you go shopping for clothes. But every single time after that, you forget. I decided to make these tips so you can make a mental checklist on your mind before you leave the house. Hope you'll find them useful! :)

1. Wear tops with a big neckline so it'll be easier for you to slip in and out of clothes without ruining your hair and makeup.

2. Do not wear anything with sequins, delicate beadwork, or anything that may snag on the clothes you're trying on. I remember one time, I was trying on this lovely knit sweater and my watch suddenly got stuck when I was about to pull the sweater off.

3. Wear minimal accessories. A simple watch and bracelet will do. I don't advise wearing necklaces because I have to remove them every time I change clothes.

4. I prefer shorts or skirts when shopping because jeans and leggings are hard to get on and off especially tight-fitting ones.

5. Wear something simple. I read somewhere that if the clothes you're wearing when shopping are simple, you'll immediately notice if the clothes you're trying on fit you well.

6. Go for comfort in your choice of footwear. Use footwear that's easy to slip in and out of, such as flats. There were countless instances when I wore sandals with a lot of straps and buckles on it and I had to remove each one of them every time I tried something on. What I'm wearing in this outfit is a bit easier 'cause there's a zipper at the back. Avoid wearing heels because you'll probably get tired from walking. When you're tired, you'll end up buying something you don't really want, just to get it over with.

However, when you're checking for the length of a pair of jeans or dress, or when looking for something to go with your favorite pair of heels, it may be wise to wear them when shopping. If you don't prefer wearing heels when shopping, you can bring them with you instead.

There are no hard and fast rules on what to wear when shopping. Just remember that you have to be comfortable and confident with whatever you choose to wear. And don't forget to have fun!

The Mullet Dress

IMG_8170

I've worn this dress a couple of times already during lazy days or when I'm just not in the mood to dress up. From the looks of it, this can be considered as a mullet dress because of the shorter hemline in front than at the back. When I actually thought about it, I noticed that the mullet skirts and dresses I see are shorter in front and are cut above the knees but this dress of mine is more modest, having a hemline below the knees. While I was browsing the internet, I coincidentally found out what my dress is called, it's a half mullet dress or high low hemline dress. Amazing!

Floral Button Down

IMG_8288

If you're following me on Twitter or Instagram, I'm sure you may have read that I went to Cebu on the last week of December and stayed until the New Year. The clothes that I brought consisted mostly of shorts, loose tops and long dresses, thinking that the weather there would be hot and sunny, and luckily, I was right! I was missing the hot weather back then because before going to Cebu, I was staying in Legazpi, my hometown, where it was raining like crazy for days.

I don't know what's with Cebu that makes the place relaxing and exciting at the same time. It's like a more peaceful version of Manila without the insane traffic and the crowds of people. Cebu left a special place in my heart (sentimental much? haha) and I'm planning on going back there soon.

Back to my outfit, this is what I usually wear when I go shopping- just a simple top and shorts. I'll be doing a separate post on the type of clothes I wear when shopping. I'll be providing tips and ideas which can make shopping easier by carefully selecting the clothes you wear for the day.

P.S. Did you notice my new hair? This was the first time to have my hair dyed and seeing it in a different color still freaks me out sometimes. Do you think it suits me? :)

Easy Breezy

Let me start with a HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU! Thank you thank you thank you for reading my blog! Thanks to those who counted on me, believed in me and gave me encouragement to keep blogging. I know I haven't been a good blogger lately, with my delayed posts and all, but thanks for supporting me despite that. Wishing you had a perfect 2012 and an even better 2013! Happy new year! :))

Now, on to my outfit. I wore this to Christine Lagarde's talk at the Asian Institute of Management two months ago. This sheer top has been in my closet ever since I bought it at H&M a year ago, probably because the top is far too dressy on casual days. I felt that this was the perfect time to wear it, especially because it was a hot day. For the finishing touches, I just added a simple necklace and a watch. What do you think of my outfit? :)
